Questions before you send?

Fair enough. Here's what you need to know.

One thing we’d rather have visible than buried: we don’t train AI models on your data, and a single coaching review is a small amount of compute. The wider energy question about AI is real, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise — there’s a fuller answer below.

What you get

Start with the CV Review Bundle. It pairs the Career Direction Explorer, which helps you understand what your CV is actually saying to employers before you start changing it, with the CV Revision Guide, which tells you what to do about it. The Pebble Prompt comes free with the bundle: two prompts you keep, one to help tailor your CV to a specific job later, the other to coach you through writing your own cover letter for it. When you have a specific interview coming up, the Interview Preparation Guide is the next step, bought separately. Everything works from your CV, so you'll need to send it through on WhatsApp to get started.

The Interview Preparation Guide is built around one specific job. You send your current CV first (PDF or Docx). Then follow up with the job posting as a PDF. The guide reads your evidence against that posting and does three things. First, it shows you what your CV signals for this role: the decisions, outcomes and patterns an interviewer will notice. Second, it surfaces the questions this posting invites and helps you prepare honest answers, including for the harder ones where your evidence is thinner. Third, you get a tailored prompt to rehearse out loud using your own AI in voice mode, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or whichever you use. It never claims you're a fit you're not; it prepares you to speak to what's true. Bought separately from the bundle, delivered via WhatsApp.

Yes. Send your updated CV through and you'll get a fresh review based on the new version, same process, new results. Each submission is a separate purchase.

What this is and isn't

You can ask any AI to read your CV, and it will. The hard part is judging what comes back. It sounds equally confident whether your CV supports the answer or not, it fills gaps with plausible detail, and it says something different tomorrow. The only readings of your CV you have ever heard are your own, so you have no reference for which parts to trust.

Instead of rewriting your text, we give you structured feedback on what your CV is actually saying and why, built against rules about what it must not claim. It tells you where its own read is thin, so you know which parts to lean on. You make the final call.

No. TryPenguin coaches you on what to change; you make the changes yourself. That's deliberate. A CV someone else wrote for you falls apart in the interview when you can't explain what's on the page. A CV you improved yourself is one you can talk about with confidence.

No. TryPenguin gives AI-generated feedback based on what your CV says. It's designed to help you find your own direction and voice, not to give you professional career counselling, employment services or guarantees of any outcome. Think of it as structured feedback that prompts better thinking, not advice from a qualified adviser. If you want professional career advice, talk to a careers counsellor.

Fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a comfortable one. TryPenguin doesn't train AI models. We use existing ones to read your CV and write your documents, which is text processing, the cheapest thing an AI does. Google published production figures in 2025 putting a typical text prompt at around 0.24 watt-hours, about a second of a microwave, and roughly five drops of water. Your review runs several longer steps than a single prompt, so it costs more than that, but it lands closer to watching a short video than to anything dramatic. The bigger and more legitimate concern is the total scale of the AI industry, the data centres, their power and their water, which is growing fast. That's a real problem and we're not going to pretend our small corner of it doesn't sit inside it. What we can tell you is what we control: we don't train models on your data, we delete your CV after 7 days, and one review is a one-off, not a habit.

How it works

Under 10 minutes from payment to delivery. Your documents arrive in the same WhatsApp chat.

Your CV can be a PDF or a Word document (.pdf or .docx). If you're sending a job posting for interview prep, that one needs to be a PDF. If your file is on your laptop, email it to yourself or grab it from your cloud storage; you just need it in the WhatsApp chat.

TryPenguin is designed for users in Australia and the UK. AU phone numbers pay in AUD; UK phone numbers pay in GBP. If you're outside these two countries, you'll be charged in GBP, though our coaching is calibrated for the AU and UK job markets. All documents are in English.

Payment and privacy

No. One payment, one review. No recurring charges, no account to cancel, no follow-up emails trying to upsell you.

Your CV is held for 7 days so you can come back and pay without re-sending it, then it's deleted. Your coaching documents are kept for 12 months, so if you come back we can pick up where you left off. You can message "delete my data" at any time and everything is removed. We don't sell your data and we never share it with employers. Before your CV is sent to the AI that generates your documents, personal details are stripped out; your data is never used to train AI models. We may use data from our coaching process to improve the service, but always within those limits. Full details are in our privacy policy.

Still here? Your CV isn't going to review itself.
